Integration of Dynamic Grid Charges in a Power Market Model for Future Energy Systems
The change in the power system due to climate protection targets will lead to rising grid costs in the future. In Germany, these will be refinanced by grid charges. However, the current grid charge system is not designed for the future power system. The use of demand-side flexibility for grid-oriented purposes offers a promising possibility to reduce grid costs. The introduction of dynamic, variable grid charges, which is already being discussed in several studies, makes the grid-oriented use of flexible consumers already possible in the power market. The objective of this paper is therefore to integrate variable grid charges into a state-of-the-art power market simulation. The focus of the modelling is on the adjustment of operational optimization and bidding of flexible consumers on the power market. The consideration of variable grid charges in the power market simulation makes it possible to investigate the effects of the grid- and market-oriented use of flexible consumers on the power market.
