An Efficient Electromagnetic Transient Modeling Method Based on Unit Division and Parallel Simulation Framework for Large-Scale Photovoltaic Power Stations

Electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation plays an important role in ensuring the safe and stable operation of large-scale photovoltaic power stations (PVPSs). In this paper, an efficient EMT unit division modeling (UDM) method and parallel simulation framework for large-scale PVPSs is proposed. Then the UDM method is proposed by selecting boundary component to realize significant reduction of time-complexity and reduce the number of internal electrical nodes. Furthermore, a parallel simulation algorithm that can reflect internal characteristics for PVPSs is proposed to realize parallel solving of internal/external electrical nodes and historical current sources, overcoming the high seriality of the NFSS algorithm. The proposed model is verified by various scenarios. Simulation results indicate that the proposed model the has a high simulation accuracy of less than 1.8% and considerable efficiency.
