A Novel UAVs as a Slicing Service (UaaSS) framework for 5G and future 6G networks for improved slice delivery

Indeed, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have recently shown great potential in many fields. Applications such as monitoring, smart agriculture, delivery, and data collection showcase how UAVs can be exploited in various scenarios. As a result, UAV-assisted networks emerged as another potential candidate to exploit UAVs. Furthermore, due to the exponential growth in the number of network users and their requirements, novel network architectures require fundamental changes. Network slicing emerged as a key enabler for networks, allowing for flexibility, capacity, and the satisfaction of diverse user needs. However, the shortcomings of using high frequencies to satisfy some slice requirements is a major concern for the radio network. As a result, this work introduces a framework that leverages UAVs to deliver network slices to users as a service. Indeed, integrating UAVs as a service for improved slice delivery can appeal to service providers and network administrators. This work presents the frameworks’ architecture and components, and discusses the potential scenarios and deployment benefits. Moreover, The proposed framework is developed to be highly compatible with the new cellular infrastructure.
