Enhancement of antenna performance using metamaterial for MIMO system applications.
This article presents a four-element MIMO (multiple-multiple output) antenna for a 5G application. Each element powered by a cpw. The four identical radiating elements in a face-to-face linear configuration. using a Rogers RT/duroid 6010 substrate with a size of $4.042 \mathrm{~mm} \times 4.256 \mathrm{~mm}$ $\times 0.635 \mathrm{~mm}$. We propose an isolation technique using metamaterials to improve the performance of the antennas of the MIM system. The meta-materials used called the split ring resonator (SRR) applied to the ground plane of the patched antenna. The MIMO antenna system performs in terms of S parameters, the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) for the operating band is within the target value $\lt0.05$ as well as the diversity gain (DG). The meta-materials reduce the mutual coupling between the antennas. The simulation results presented by the HFSS software. The proposed MIMO antenna is one of the solutions used for 5G applications.
