Design and Simulation of a Dual-Band Printed Antenna for 5G Applications in the Millimeter Wave Band

Simulation and design of a mmwave dual-band printed antenna for 5 G applications are provided in this work. The objective is to design an antenna operating in the 28 GHz and 45 GHz bands with a wide bandwidth conforming to $\mathbf{5 G}$ requirements. A basic rectangular antenna model is first proposed, followed by a series of optimizations using inverted T-shaped slots and an additional slot in the ground plane. The performance of the final antenna is evaluated in terms of reflection coefficient, radiation patterns, and gain. Simulation results show that the antenna exhibits resonance frequencies at 28 GHz and 45 GHz with respective bandwidths of 0.93 GHz and 2.28 GHz and gains of 7.01 dB and 7.7 dB. These performances meet the requirements of 5 G for wide bandwidth in the millimeter wave band.

Abstract

The objective is to design an antenna operating in the 28 GHz and 45 GHz bands with a wide bandwidth conforming to $\mathbf{5 G}$ requirements. A basic rectangular antenna model is first proposed, followed by a series of optimizations using inverted T-shaped slots and an additional slot in the ground plane.
