Cost optimization of Grounding System for HV substation of Ain El-Melh by M-BCO
This study deals with a novel application of modified bee colony optimization (M-BCO) technique to elaborate a secure and economic grounding system for HV substation of Ain El-Melh situated at in the city of M’sila (east Algeria). Based on the artificial intelligence (AI) approach, the optimization of the grounding system problem is developed as a minimization of the newly established cost function. This latter includes construction and geometrical factors for example: length of rods, number of conductors (rods) section of conductors and total space of the revetment. By respecting to the security restriction necessary by the Stand ANSI/IEEE Std. 80-2000, the (M-BCO) optimization method allows to achieve the minimum cost of the grounding grid based on the best choice of the objective function parameters compared to those obtained by BCO and PSO. The results of the safety parameters obtained by M-BCO have been compared to those estimating by CYMGrd code. M-BCO illustrate a good agreement. As conclusion, the application of M-BCO is very powerful approach for the cost optimization of grounding system design with regarding in convergence rapidity and optimal solution accuracy.
