Single Current Control Method for Six-Step Operation of PMSM Cascaded With Time-Optimal Dead-Beat Flux Controller
This study proposes a stator flux-oriented control (SFOC) method for the six-step operation of a permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with q</i>-axis current control. By configuring the time-optimal dead-beat flux controller (DBFC) as an inner controller, the dynamic performance of the six-step operation is secured. The outer single current controller performs torque control and monitors current limits of the drive system. The performance of the proposed method is verified through simulations and experiments with a 30-kW PMSM for hybrid electric vehicle applications. With the proposed method, the bandwidth of the current regulation has been extended up to 20% of the operating electrical speed, even under the six-step operation.
