OTFS-Based Direct Tracking Algorithm for High-Speed Target With Complicated Channel

High-speed target tracking is one of the major issues in wireless system. However, the complicated channel caused by high-mobility usually affects the estimation resolution and reduces the tracking accuracy. Therefore, in this letter, we integrate orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) into the tracking process and propose an OTFS-based direct tracking algorithm for high-speed target (OTFS-DTrac) which constructs an OTFS signal model for tracking, formulates an OTFS-based direct tracking estimator and derives the PCRLB (Posterior Cramér–Rao lower bound) of the proposed algorithm to demonstrate its performance. The algorithm can track the high-speed target directly and reduce the effect of complicated channel on high-speed target tracking performance without any intermediate step. Simulation results show that compared with other approaches, the proposed algorithm can increase the tracking accuracy dramatically especially for high-speed target which is more robust and suitable for high-mobility environment.
