Fluopyram-Loaded Nanofibers Prepared by Coaxial and Uniaxial Electrospinning for Nematicide-Efficient Utilization in Rhizosphere
The inefficient application and ineffective delivery of nematicides on agriculture have caused serious waste of pesticides and environmental pollution. It is urgent to develop new carriers for nematicides that are long-acting and environmentally friendly. In this study, biodegradable cellulose acetate was used as the carrier material to prepare two kinds of fluopyram (Flp)-loaded nanofibers by coaxial electrospinning (CA-CE@Flp) and uniaxial electrospinning (CA-UE@Flp), respectively. During the preparation of two Flp-loaded nanofibers, we deposited them on the root of the plant. In the 45-day pot experiment, the root-protective films would release Flp to protect root from the Meloidogyne incognita infection. The control effects of CA-UE@Flp and CA-CE@Flp are 80% and 64%. In the distribution of Flp around the rhizosphere soil, the CA-CE@Flp with sustainable release property performed the more uniform distribution of Flp, which led to the long-term control effect against M. incognita and plant safety. CA-UE@Flp with high release efficiency can achieve short-term disease prevention and control. The novel Flp-loaded nanofiber precision application developed provides a new strategy for the green, safe, and efficient application of nematicides and shows a great potential for electrospinning fiber products on plant protection.
