From prosthodontics to gerodontics—Challenges in a super-aging society
From prosthodontics to gerodontics-Challenges in a super-aging society Dear Readers,Looking back on a 40-year career in prosthetic dentistry, one can observe remarkable changes in the field. In the 1980s and 1990s, many patients in their late 60s or 70s were already edentulous and sought treatment in university student clinics. These individuals often lived independently, were relatively fit, and seldom presented with chronic illnesses.Their intraoral conditions were generally favorable, making them ideal "beginner cases" for student clinicians.
