Safety analysis for deformable IoT system: a case study of wearable ECG monitoring system
In the field of health monitoring, the Internet of Things (IoT) is extensively utilized and is progressively advancing towards more critical applications, such as wearable electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring systems. Despite its potential, IoT faces substantial challenges in this domain, including the need for safety analysis of IoT as deformable systems and the requirement to balance cost with safety performance. This study proposes a scenario-based approach, leveraging the innovative use of the AltaRica language for system modelling and reliability experiments. Our findings suggest that the proposed scenario-based method is broadly applicable for analysing deformable IoT systems. Using a wearable ECG monitoring system as a case study, we identify the optimal range for minimizing the failure rate of key system components. Additionally, it is noted that the impact of the repair time attributes of repairable components on overall system reliability exhibits a non-linear trend.
