Forecasting Trends in Smart Safety Management Technologies Using BERTopic and GTM

Purpose This study aims to identify trends in smart safety management technologies and forecast future developments through patent data analysis. Methods A total of 623 patents related to smart safety management were collected. Topic modeling was conducted using BERTopic to identify emerging and promising technologies. Additionally, Generative Topographic Mapping (GTM) was applied to generate a patent map, revealing vacant technologies. Results The analysis identified one emerging technology, three promising technologies, and two vacant technologies in smart safety management technologies. Conclusion By analyzing patent data through topic modeling, this study provides insights into trends in smart safety management technologies. The findings are expected to inform technology strategies, guide investment decisions, and support ongoing research and development efforts.
