Research on the reliability modeling and assessment method of solar unmanned aerial vehicle power system considering balancing requirements

The power system of a solar-powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is a critical component that necessitates extremely high reliability. Traditionally, reliability in such systems is ensured by incorporating redundancy units to meet performance requirements. The conventional approach for evaluating reliability employs the K/N system model. However, this model only accounts for the number of units and neglects the impact of spatial distribution and balancing requirements, leading to inaccuracies. In this study, we introduce a balanced system model which has multi states to evaluate the reliability of a solar-powered UAV. Based on the operational principles of the power system and integrating two different load-sharing principles, we propose three system re-balancing mechanisms and establish a power system reliability model that considers balancing requirements. Finally, we evaluated the reliability of the power system using finite Markov chain approach (FMCA), which significantly enhances the accuracy of the evaluation.
