A new kind of simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain optical fiber grating
This paper introduces a novel type of optical fiber grating capable of simultaneous temperature and strain measurement. The grating is fabricated using the ultraviolet lithography method, involving the removal of photosensitivity from a small section of the fiber prior to writing the grating using electrode discharge. The phase shift grating formed by this method is used as an optical fiber sensor to measure the temperature and stress simultaneously which result exhibits two peaks with distinct sensitivities to temperature and strain. Experimental results demonstrate that phase-shifted Bragg grating made by this method enables accurate simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain, which solves the problem of cross-sensitivity of traditional fiber grating.
