A study of ionisation chamber energy response measurements based on monoenergetic X-ray
Ionisation chambers, as an important tool for radiation measurements, are particularly critical in terms of their energy response characteristics, while monoenergetic X-ray have the advantages of continuous and adjustable energy, large injections and good stability compared to conventional radioactive sources. In this study, a high-pressure gas ionisation chamber is measured and its energy response is calculated using a monoenergetic X-ray device, and the data are plotted and compared with those from Monte Carlo simulations to validate the feasibility of the measurement study using a monoenergetic X-ray device. The study proposes to calibrate the energy response of the ionisation chamber by counting with a standard high-purity germanium detector and using the ratio of its omnipotent peak detection efficiency as the true value. The conclusions show that the experimental and simulated curves follow the same trend, with an overall increase with increasing energy, especially in the medium energy region (15 keV-25 keV) where the trends of the normalised energy response curves are roughly in agreement, demonstrating the feasibility of using a monoenergetic X-ray device to measure the energy response of ionisation chambers.
