E-REDES flexibility strategy to enhance distribution system hosting capacity

The energy sector is undergoing a paradigm shift driven by forces such as the increasing integration of distributed renewable generation and the electrification of consumption. Therefore, to effectively manage the challenges posed by these macro trends, DSOs need to implement innovative solutions for grid management, including enhancing grid flexibility. In this context, this paper explores the flexibility strategy to enhance E-REDES's distribution system hosting capacity, the main Portuguese DSO. By sharing its practical experience in implementing market-based flexibility services and non-firm connection agreements, E-REDES seeks to contribute to the broader discussion on grid flexibility and inspire further innovation in the energy sector.
