Monitoring and control of DER using AMI equipment SMGW and smart meter
Due to the nature of DER(Distribution Energy Resource), it is difficult to establish a system for separate monitoring and control. As a result, the SMGW and Smart Meter, which are installed to monitor and control DER at the distribution system interconnection point of DER, were added to make it easier to build the system. SMGW was equipped with DNP3.0 and LwM2M protocols for information transfer between ADMS(Advanced Distribution Management System) and AMI systems. Active power control, power factor control, and inverter start and stop are possible through remote commands in the ADMS system, and the performance was verified through field trial application. For voltage control of DER, the volt-bar algorithm was installed and its effectiveness was verified in the actual distribution system. For communication connection with solar inverters, a KSGA spec-based communication protocol was used, and the DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) function was applied to secure security between SMGW and solar inverters. The Smart Meter is capable of monitoring DER through the function of detecting power outages and transmitting push, and the function of storing 50th order harmonics and waveforms.
