Operation of on-load tap changer (OLTC) in MV/LV transformer by using smart meter data for voltage optimization and increasing hosting capacity in low voltage distribution grids with distributed photovoltaics (DPV)
This paper presents the results from a Norwegian pilot project on using voltage regulating distribution transformers (VRDTs) in low voltage grids with DPV together with smart meter data. The aim of the project was to minimize the networks losses by purposefully adjusting the target voltage of the VRDT and, at the same time, ensuring that the voltage at all connection points meet the national limits, despite the application of increased hosting capacity.
