Concept of a device for universal manipulation of charging processes of electric vehicles to increase distribution system hosting capacity
The transition from fossil fuels to renewable energies is making the energy supply system increasingly dynamic. This dynamic, together with increasing electrification in the mobility sector, leads to the question of how hosting capacity in the electricity distribution grid can be increased. This publication shows a possibility to increase the hosting capacity by a universal, intelligent control of charging processes of electric vehicles in the (private) AC area. The special feature of the controller is its integration into a standard charging cable, which has the following advantages: Portability and thus targeted and possible short-term usage. The avoidance of stranded investments in case of grid expansion. Maximum compatibility thanks to uniform standardization and the possibility of retrofitting existing charging infrastructure.
