Making hosting capacity estimates more reliable through automated GIS corrections
The energy transition is having a major impact on the operation and planning of low voltage distribution networks. Uncertainties in network length, topology or number and type of customers can lead to sub-optimal investment decisions. This work aims to enhance the reliability of hosting capacity estimates, enabling better decisions on network reinforcement. A combination of smart meter data, open data address repositories and network cartography is used to automatically detect and correct GIS anomalies.
