Analysis of distribution system operation effects considering uncertainty in electric vehicle response

Through the operation of a controllable load, it is possible to contribute to solving voltage problems caused by the output volatility of renewable energy. Having a controllable energy load is one feature of the electric vehicles (EVs). Unlike centrally controlled resources, EV can affect demand response capacity depending on the willingness of EV owners to participate in demand division. Therefore, it is effective for distribution system operators to operate the systems with consideration given to the uncertainty of the willingness response of each EV owner to solve the voltage problem. In this study, we propose a novel method that considers the uncertainty of EV owner response and applies it to solving the renewable energy overvoltage problem. EV charging for each study group was modelled based on the probability distribution by clustering based on the reaction of each EV owner compared to their past response. The probability of overvoltage problem resolution and the EV reaction according to the combination of each study group were analysed.
