MARIERRÊ: A RESISTÊNCIA DE UM PATRIMÔNIO HISTÓRICO, CULTURAL E RELIGIOSO DA VILA DE CARAPAJÓ/CAMETÁ-PA.

This research brings reflections about the popular/cultural/historical/folkloric/religious manifestation known as “MARIERRÊ” from the village of Carapajó, a district of the city of Cametá/PA, demonstrating how Afro-descendant customs, habits and traditions influenced the cultural formation and creation of manifestations that have been passed down from generation to generation for over a hundred years present in the local culture. The methodological path follows the paths of ethnographic field research, in this sense the analyses carried out are of the historical-dialectical type, in which we highlight the relevance, the influence of traditional Afro-descendant manifestations and the appreciation/conservation of the Marierrê festival, in the village of Carapajó. The objective of the research is to analyze how the cultural/religious manifestation: Marierrê occurs, and how the community of the village of Carapajó has resisted and cultivated this Afro-Brazilian rite perpetuated between generations. It was found that Marierrê is a heritage inherited from African slaves and that it has been perpetuated through generations, emerging from cultural and religious traditions, and evidencing the influence, affirmation and resistance of black people in the midst of a racist and prejudiced society.
