Pulse Wave Measurement and Analysis Based on A Bandage-Based Pressure Sensing System
To address the shortcomings of strong subjectivity and difficult control of pulse-taking pressure in current pulse wave measurement, this paper designs a bandage-based pressure sensing system (BPSS). The BPSS consists of elastic bandages, four flexible pressure sensors, hardware circuits and a user interface on computer. It is capable of simultaneously measuring pressure distribution along the bandage as well as the real-time pulse waveforms. This paper calibrates the properties of the sensor through piecewise fitting with a power-exponential function, achieving a measurement accuracy of 0.1 mmHg in the pressure range of 35$\mathrm{mmHg} \sim 220 \mathrm{mmHg}$. Based on the BPSS, an effective filtering and period segmentation method in pulse wave processing are proposed. Accordingly, the relationship among pulse waveforms index $\mathrm{H} 4 / \mathrm{H} 1$, pulse-taking pressure, and the blood pressure of the subjects has been investigated. This BPSS proposes a method to measure, process and analyze the pulse waveforms, providing references for estimating the blood pressure relying on pulse waveforms in a convenient way.
