Ductile domain of aluminium-silicon glass in high-speed milling
The ductile glass-cutting method not only enhances processing efficiency and reduces costs but also yields smoother surfaces compared to grinding. The transformation of material toughness during the cutting process is crucial for improving the surface integrity of the machined product, enhancing efficiency, and extending the lifespan of the product. Experimental observations using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) revealed that the cross-section of the brittle material, aluminosilicate glass, exhibits ductile domain characteristics during ultra-high-speed micro-milling with a multi-faceted (30-edge) tool. These findings provide valuable insights for adjusting optimization parameters in future extreme milling experiments and aligning with actual production demands.
