Composite layer evaluation based on multi-scale finite element analysis
FRP (fiber-reinforced plastics) composite materials are extensively utilized across various sectors, including aviation and navigation, making the study of their layers significantly valuable from an engineering perspective. This research evaluates twenty different types of FRP laminates subjected to low-speed impacts. A multi-scale model for various FRP laminates was developed, and simulations of low-speed impacts were conducted. The gray correlation evaluation method was employed to assess the impact performance of different fiberglass plates. The results reveal that the outcomes from multi-scale finite element analysis are in close agreement with experimental data, confirming its effectiveness in evaluating the layers of FRP composites. The impact performance of the FRP composites varied, with the maximum R-value recorded at 0.7490 and the lowest at 0.3934. These findings are instrumental in assessing the impact properties of FRP composite materials.
