ANTINOMISM IN PHILOSOPHY OF PSYCHIATRY: MODERN DISCUSSIONS
This article aims to outline the range of methodological problems intrinsic to the modern philosophy of psychiatry thereby underlining inherent antinomism of its approaches, problems, and practices. To achieve this goal a number of tasks need to be solved. Thus, the first part of the article is dedicated to the discussions, unfolded around the specificity of the subject and method of psychiatry, and outlines the role of philosophy in this process of psychiatry’s self-understanding as a scientific discipline. The second part of the article, shows how the methodological foundation, laid by the previous tradition, determines the antinomism, typical to most of theoretical and practical oppositions, setting the general lines of discussions in this area. The goal determines the choice of working methods such as the dialectical method, used primarily as a means of identifying the original antinomic attitudes in the ideological foundation of the philosophy of psychiatry, as well as comparative method and the methods of historical and philosophical generalization, etc. The sources for the present study are both: classical works and articles, monographs and chapters published in recent years by foreign and domestic researchers working in this area.
