AbstractWith increasing developments in the current era of globalization and modernity, improving the quality of education can become an urgent problem. Problems that arise within the school are related to the function and leadership role of the school principal, so a study was conducted with the research title School Principal Leadership in Improving Teacher Competency. The data collection technique used was an interview technique by several school principals. Competency is a combination of mastery of knowledge, values and attitudes which are reflected in habits of thinking and acting in carrying out tasks/work. Teachers who are able to apply competence in the implementation of learning will have more fun and arouse interest in learning and create an active learning atmosphere and ultimately have an impact on increasing student achievement. The school principal's efforts to improve teacher competence and personality are by holding several training and recommendation activity programs. In general, increasing competency carried out by school principals aims to ensure that teachers master classroom management.
