Accumulation characteristics of contact surfaces based arc energy of HSER
Under rated load and overload conditions, an arc may form between the contacts of a relay during its release or operation state, with the trajectory of the arc being random. The variability in ignition times and positions results in differing amounts of energy being released by the arc, leading to uncertainty in the ablation of the contact surface. Generally, as the number of operations increases, the roughness of the relay contact surface gradually increases, which in turn raises the contact resistance and exacerbates contact heating. This paper summarizes the accumulated characteristics of the contact surface in the released state of a Hermetically Sealed Electromagnetic Relay (HSER). A dual-angle arc photography platform was constructed to capture the two-dimensional trajectory of the arc. By analyzing scatter plots of the arc center and the trajectory of the arc center, the distribution patterns of the arc center and its trajectory are established. Consequently, the accumulation characteristics of the contact surface are thoroughly analyzed.
