Increasing electricity distribution network capacity on freeway stop areas to support road freight transport electrification by 2035
European and French regulations on lowering vehicle CO2 emissions are pushing road freight transport towards rapid decarbonization. This transition mainly involves the deployment of battery-electric trucks which is the main "zero-emissions vehicle" technology to be developed by truck manufacturers in the short term. The massive deployment of charging infrastructures on major roads is one of the major prerequisites for the electrification of road freight transport. The European AFIR (Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation) regulation already set targets for the deployment of such infrastructure on a large scale by 2030.
