Characteristics of Ultrafine Particulate Matter Components and Air Quality in Cheongju City
The concentration of PM2.5 in Cheongju City exceeds the national average, posing significant risks to human health and the environment. To address this issue, measurements were conducted at Chungbuk National University to understand the characteristics of PM2.5 pollution in Cheongju City. PM2.5 mass concentrations were measured using a PMS-204 sampler over a 24-hour period, while the ionic components within the particulate matter were analyzed using ion chromatography (IC). Air quality was assessed by collecting air samples in Tedlar bags and analyzing them with a gas analyzer. Results showed higher PM2.5 concentrations in spring and winter, corresponding to increased concentrations of ionic components. Correlation analysis revealed a close relationship between PM2.5 and ion concentrations, and a multiple linear regression (MLR) model demonstrated approximately 77% accuracy.
