Features of the interaction of hydrogenm with α-PdHn alloys

The article presents the results of experimental studies on the influence of successive hydrogen injections into the chamber on the kinetics of maximum bending for cantilevers made of α-PdHn alloy. It was found that the time to reach the maximum bending of the cantilever increases with each subsequent hydrogen injection, with the same increase in hydrogen concentration. This phenomenon is explained by the accumulation of hydrogen in the crystal lattice of palladium, which causes changes in diffusion processes and expansion of the crystal lattice. For the first time, a plateau effect was recorded after reaching the maximum bending, which indicates the establishment of a thermo-baro-elastic equilibrium between the penetration of hydrogen and the mechanical response of palladium. The study also showed that with each subsequent inflow of hydrogen into the chamber, the duration of the relaxation process of hydrogen concentration stresses increases, which indicates an increase in internal stresses in the material structure. A non-linear relationship between the hydrogen concentration and the expansion of the palladium crystal lattice was found, especially in the region of non-ideal solutions, which is accompanied by changes in the physical properties of palladium alloys. In addition, a correlation was established between the maximum bending value and the number of bends, which opens up new perspectives for predicting the mechanical properties of materials in environments with a high hydrogen content.
