Structural defects and heat capacity of iodide cadmium
In this work, a creation of donor-acceptor (DA) complexes (trimmers) in highly anisotropic layered crystals of CdI2 is analyzed. The impact of DA complexes on lattice dynamics is investigated. Experimental studies of the temperature dependence of the heat capacity of crystals were applied and the significant impact of impurities in the crystal matrix was revealed. Einstein temperatures for samples of CdI2, CdI2 with Cu, CdI2 with Cu, Au were calculated for the first time and the consistency of the proposed model with theory and experiment is demonstrated.
