Implementation of European Public Environmental Policies in the Context of Improving Public Health

Studying the impact of environmental factors on quality of life and public health is crucial. Biodiversity is vital for public health, and environmental protection policies are mandatory worldwide. Managing European directives in national public policies enhances environmental quality, positively impacting public health. Sustainable development and economic resilience are key determinants of this relationship. The study analyzed environmental factors using eco-diagnostics and pollution impact assessments. International statistics from organizations like the WHO, World Bank, Environment Agency, and data on environmental quality indicators were used. European directives relevant to environmental management were also considered. A diverse sample of countries was selected based on population and regional homogeneity. Pollution reduction improves the environment and indirectly increases life expectancy, supporting sustainable development and protecting public health. The Republic of Moldova promotes environmental protection through initiatives like tree planting, organic agriculture, water resource management, and renewable energy development. The pollution index in researched countries confirms that polluted environments affect population health by increasing mortality rates. For instance, countries like Portugal, Italy, Ukraine, Albania, Bulgaria, and Romania have higher pollution indices, which negatively impact life expectancy. The authors aimed to assess the extent of national economic and societal development through environmental pollution reduction methods. The research reconciles economic and social development with environmental improvement, enhancing population quality of life. It highlights the multifaceted nature of environmental management, influenced by each country's economic model and pollution levels. Despite differences, countries share responsibility for implementing environmental protection policies.
