An Integrated Control Method for Stationary and Onboard Energy Storage Systems on DC Electrified Railway
Recently, with the increasing installation of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV) power sources or wind farms, a so-called “demand response” (DR) to maintain the balance between supply and demand in the power grid has attracted attention. We propose an integrated control method for stationary energy storage systems (SESSs) and onboard energy storage systems (OESSs) on DC electrified railways to implement DR-based control. We confirmed the behavior of SESSs and OESSs in simulation when applying this control, and evaluated the difference in unit demand in 30 minutes between with and without the DR command.
