Integration of Scientific Research and Industrial Engineering Modeling

This paper introduces recent research results which are implemented at the recently founded Virtual Research Laboratory (VRL). VRL is aimed to apply recent results in research intensive industrial engineering modeling at scientific research in applied informatics and applied mathematics. Implementation means that modeling, simulation, and related management capabilities are provided by leading engineering modeling platform (EMP) for research at VRL. Research activities access comprehensive collection of APPs in the VRL platform which is configured in an EMP in the cloud resulting scientifically renewable laboratory. Choice of APPs at VRL platform is extended as requested by each research project. Each VRL research develops own scientific-industrial analytic-behavioral Experimental Model for Research (EMR) during lifecycle of research. Participants of research project develop EMR in dedicated collaborative space (CS) which organizes content elements. Model level connections with other CSs and with other suitable spots at cooperating companies and institutions ensure receiving industry originated topics and relevant research assistance. Real world actual problems emerged at leading industries can be integrated in VRL projects. Although realistic simulations replace physical experiments at VRL, connection between EMR in VRL and cyber units in cyber physical biological structures (CPBSs) is still required to execute physical experiments. In this way, EMR can establish more connections with cyber units in CPBSs for the communication with already decided or prospective application of research result. VRL was founded primarily as environment for PhD research. Resources are now available for PhD and other research in applied informatics and applied mathematics at VRL platform.

Abstract

In this way, EMR can establish more connections with cyber units in CPBSs for the communication with already decided or prospective application of research result.
