Performance study of basalt fiber polymer rebar (BFRP) compared to carbon steel bars.
Basalt fiber polymer rebars represent a viable alternative for use in structures located in aggressive environments due to their non-corrosive properties and high tensile strength. Tensile and bond tests, as well as flexural tests, were performed on reinforced concrete beams with both types of reinforcing bars to evaluate differences between crack widths, strains, and failure modes. These results will provide a basis for future research and applications in infrastructure in Panama.
