Stochastic Mobility Integration into Residential Energy Hubs
Integrating transport electrification in general, and private electric vehicles in particular, poses a significant operational challenge for home energy management systems. Electric vehicle charging is the most relevant asset when considering houses and residential buildings as energy hubs due to its size and uncertainty. Incomplete analysis and basic energy management strategies may lead to excessive installed capacity, grid congestion, and high operating and investment costs. This paper presents the impact of mobility uncertainty on a residential energy hub using a stochastic energy management system. The analysis shows that the uncertainty is handled by the grid connection and additional battery storage is not necessary. Thus its installation could be disregarded depending on the available investment capital.
