Generation Z Engineering Students' Preferences of Dual and Future Workplace

Dual training is a full-time program for university students that provides continuous work experience throughout the entire training period, in addition to the studies. Students who choose this type of training gradually get to know their chosen workplace and participate in professional tasks and projects, while studying at university, so that both their professional knowledge and soft skills develop a lot during the training. The high quality of their university education is complemented by an industrial placement. During their placements, these dual students experience the world of work while they are still studying and have a clear idea of what job characteristics are ideal for them and what they consider important. Our research explores the workplace preferences of Generation Z technical university dual students. The key factors highlighted are a friendly atmosphere, opportunities for professional development, good communication with managers, and challenging work.
