Aerodynamic Analysis of the Low Reynolds Number Eppler-E63 Airfoil With Normal and Reverse Flow
This study examines the aerodynamic behavior of the low Reynolds number Eppler-E63 airfoil under normal and reverse flow conditions. This airfoil design is commonly used in the propulsion systems of small UAVs and model aircraft. The widely-used APC Slow Flyer propellers are also based on this geometry. The aim of the research is to identify stall points and analyze the lift and drag coefficient values as a function of normal and extreme angles of attack. The results show that it can also operate efficiently in reverse flow. It has lower lift and drag coefficient value due to the profile design, but exhibits similar behavior over the same angle of attack range for normal flow. The stall point is nearly the same, but the separation is much more turbulent after crossing the critical stall angle.
