Estimating Cost Benefit of Supply-Demand Adjustment Utilizing Railway Onboard Batteries Based on Their Deterioration Test
It is important to make more effective use of large onboard batteries for railway decarbonization. In this work, we conducted cyclic tests of onboard LIBs for driving: power assisting and regenerative absorption, as well as a combined case of participating in supply-demand adjustment. The cyclic test results suggest that there is a battery-specific SOC range where charge-discharge cycles for driving should be avoided. We also estimate the economical supply-demand adjustment conditions of charge-discharge amount, based on their deterioration test result while avoiding excessive battery deterioration.
