Power Cable Water Tree Detection Method Based on Damped Oscillation Voltage
Water tree is an important cause of power cable insulation accidents. The partial discharge detection method based on damped oscillation voltage (DAC) is widely used in China, but it is not clear whether it can detect water tree defects in cables. To this end, this paper prepared water tree defect models with different severity levels and carried out partial discharge measurements based on damped oscillation voltage. The research results show that water tree defects with a severity of more than 50% can be detected based on damped oscillation voltage, and the type of water tree defects can be further diagnosed by adjusting the pre-stressing time.
