Stiffness Impact on the Design and Sustainable Functioning of Vortex Bladeless Turbines
Stiffness in a bladeless wind turbine is crucial for determining the system’s natural frequency, oscillation amplitude, and efficiency in converting mechanical wind energy and dissipating it. Material selection is essential for an optimal Bladeless Vortex design. The material’s stiffness and damping ensure efficient, sustainable, and durable operation, maximizing wind energy conversion and affecting the turbine’s lifespan and maintenance. This study used dynamic simulations in Python to analyze the design, operation, and behavior of a Vortex Bladeless turbine made from E-Glass Fiber, Carbon Fiber, and Epoxy Carbon UD 230 GPa. Their stiffnesses were considered for performance impact. Variables influencing the vorticity phenomenon, including natural frequency, system displacement, interacting forces, air speeds, and power production, were analyzed. Mathematical expressions describing the phenomenon were developed and implemented in a Python program within the Spyder environment, incorporating input variables, displacement, and power graphs for the three materials. The simulations provided a comprehensive analysis of how each material affects turbine efficiency and power output. Results showed that E-Glass Fiber is the best material for sustainable Vortex Bladeless turbine operation, producing 6.12 mW. Carbon Fiber generated 4.08 mW, and Epoxy Carbon UD 230 GPa produced 2.04 mW. This finding supports using E-Glass Fiber for optimal performance, offering a balance of efficiency, cost, and material properties, and underscores the importance of material science in renewable energy technology.
