Exploration of Partial Power Converter Topology for Fuel Cell Multi-Stack Systems in Heavy-Duty Applications

The Partial Power Converter (PPC) is a very appealing solution for DC/DC applications because of its inherent merits in terms of efficiency, power density and system redundancy. In this paper, we explore the use of PPC topology for Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles, in a Multi-Stack configuration. A Series-Cascade connected reconfigurable converter, based on a phase-shifted full bridge converter is proposed. Theoretical analysis and simulation of the proposed converter show its feasibility. An evaluation of the proposed converter's performance over a long haul driving cycle concludes the work.
