Installation as Exploration
Rigid inclusions are a ground improvement technique used for settlement control of industrial, low-rise, and highway structures and embankments at sites with poor subsurface conditions. Typically, when used to support an extended area structure or surcharge, rigid inclusions are installed in a rectangular or triangular pattern at regular spacing that ranges from 5 to 12 ft. The rigid inclusion system is typically capped with a load transfer platform to direct a significant portion of the applied load (i.e., new fill plus surcharge) toward the rigid inclusions.
