The Importance of a Vaccination Guidance Manual for Physical Education Professionals

Objective: To assess the importance and need to propose a Guidance Guide on the Importance of Vaccines for Physical Education Professionals. Theoretical Framework: The theoretical framework of the research is based on the intersection between public health, health education and professional training, highlighting theories that emphasize the importance of disease prevention and the promotion of collective health. Concepts such as immunization as an essential public health strategy and the educational role of professionals from different areas are central. In addition, it is possible that frameworks related to behavioral awareness and health education, such as the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change or Pender's Health Promotion Model, were used to support the need for educational resources, such as the Guidance Guide on Vaccines, aimed at Physical Education professionals. Method: The methodological approach employed involved a cross-sectional field study with the participation of 338 Physical Education students, of both sexes, from the State University of Pará, campus III. Data collection was developed through an online questionnaire to verify the importance of a Guidance Guide on the Importance of Vaccines for Physical Education Professionals. Results and Discussion: The results revealed that the participants are clearly aware of the importance of knowing their vaccination status, and it is notable that most are up to date with their vaccinations. Furthermore, it is impressive that 99% of the respondents believe that a specific guidance guide on the importance of vaccinations for physical education professionals is essential. Research Implications: The research shows that physical education professionals recognize the importance of vaccination, highlighting a gap in their training that can be filled with a Guidance Guide on the subject. This reinforces the role of these professionals as agents of public health promotion, with the potential to increase awareness about immunization in their practices. The demand for the guide points to the need for investments in educational resources and partnerships between educational and health institutions, aiming to strengthen immunization policies and integrate the topic into academic training, with positive impacts on public health and the performance of these professionals. Originality/Value: The originality of the research lies in its approach to vaccination as a relevant dimension in the training and performance of Physical Education professionals, a group that is often underestimated in the context of public health. By highlighting the need for a Guide on Vaccines, the study introduces a topic that has been little explored in the area, recognizing these professionals as potential multipliers of preventive practices. The value of the research lies in its practical applicability, as it provides support for the creation of educational materials and the formulation of policies that integrate immunization with health promotion, increasing the positive impact on academic training and public awareness.
