On the issue of forming patriotic values of students
The relevance of this study is due to the fact that the issues of patriotic education in modern higher education play a huge role in the formation of a harmoniously and comprehensively developed personality, capable of subsequently working for the benefit of the state and loving their Homeland. Civic and patriotic education at the university has become especially relevant right now, when our country is faced with serious threats and challenges from other states. In addition, a Special Military Operation plays an important role in updating these issues. In this difficult time, it is especially important to educate young people in the spirit of respect for their native land, to instill universal values, starting with love for their mother and ending with instilling love for the Motherland. In this regard, the purpose of this article is to consider the main directions of patriotic education of students. To achieve this goal, general scientific (analysis, synthesis, comparison, deduction) and specific scientific (pedagogical research method, observation, conversation) research methods were used. The study found that the main form of development of patriotic values is student volunteering, which involves: 1) organizing active creative and social activities of students, ensuring the formation of humanistic values; 2) expanding knowledge about the history of their family, their distant ancestors, the traditions of their native village or city, cultural and historical monuments, and major milestones in history; 3) forming ideas about the cultural heritage of their country and native land, including folk games, musical folklore, oral folklore, folk arts and crafts, traditions and holidays.
