Zwitterionic alcoholic solutions for integrated CO2 capture and hydrogenation

Zwitterionic phenolate bases are superior to tertiary amines to capture CO 2 in alcohols as alkylcarbonates (AKC). An integrated CO 2 capture and conversion scheme that reduces these AKC to formate or methanol with H 2 using Ru catalysts was developed.
