This study aims to identify trends in counseling research using text mining and provide implications for future research. A total of 111 papers were collected from RISS by searching for the terms “text mining” and “counseling”. The papers were analyzed based on publication year, academic information, research field, research topic, data sources, methods, and software. Third, social sciences, engineering, and interdisciplinary sciences were the most common fields. Fourth, the frequent research topics were overviews and psychological traits of the public. Fifth, primary data sources included papers, reports and social media/portal data. Sixth, commonly used methods included visualization, keyword analysis and network analysis. Seventh, R, Python, and NetMiner were the most used software. Based on these results, implications for counseling research were discussed.
