Abstract

More than two images (our material is presented by eight structures). The analysis of the material also allowed us to identify several neological units formed with the help of abbreviations which are pronounced as significant words of the language and have their own meanings. The fact that figurative English neological units belong to different types of discourse indicates their importance. Metaphor is one of the powerful means of such influence and is not just a figurative means but a way of knowing, structuring and explaining the world which has significant pragmatic potential. A person thinks in metaphors creating with their help the world in which he lives. The effect of metaphorical comprehension actualizes the corresponding system of generally accepted associations in each linguoculture. A figurative rethinking of cultural dominants through the analysis of neological units allows us to see the vision of the environment by a modern person.
