A Phenomenological Study on the Recovery Factors of Drug Addicts : Focusing on the Christian Community ‘People Sharing Hope’
The objective of this study is to understand the recovery process of individuals who abstained from narcotics and illegal drugs for more than a year. The focus is on key internal and external factors sustaining abstinence, offering insights into addiction rehabilitation. Participants, with repeated addiction histories, belong to 'People Sharing Hope,' a Christian-based self-help group and residential community, balancing shared living, employment, and education. Using Giorgi's phenomenological method, the study identifies four main themes: 'Awareness of drug abuse dangers,' 'Hitting rock bottom and deciding to recover,' 'External entities that supported recovery,' and 'Renewed identity in recovery,' with 16 sub-themes and 38 core meanings. Findings address significance, limitations, and future research directions.
